This little break from the main story was my Michael Moorcock homage, having a little fun with some of the broader elements from some of his Champion Eternal storylines. I wasn't going to go too deeply into it (I only had 25 pages and didn't want to go too far astray from my own story sensibilities), but this is a small nod to his Jerry Cornelius stories in particular.
